His signature time was in 1985, when he came back from a season-ending injury the year before and stamped his personality on one of the greatest and certainly most colorful teams of all time, leading them all the way through the win in Super Bowl XX. McMahon, who directed an improbable comeback in a Thursday Night Football game at Minnesota to perhaps save the '85 season, and agent Steve Zucker helped re-shape sports marketing with the focus on athletes as personalities in advertising rather than strictly as athletes. McMahon eventually wore out his time, and bosses, in Chicago and was traded to the San Diego Chargers in 1989 despite the team reaching the 1988 NFC championship game. He went on to play with five different teams after the Bears, including finally the Green Bay Packers where he was Brett Favre's backup in a Super Bowl win.
