Jockey Sheldon Russell, who earned his 1,000th career victory last weekend, rode four winners on Laurel Park's 10-race program Saturday. Russell rode the early double aboard Middletown Gal ($2.80) in the first and Dragon Attack ($12.40) in the second. He won the fourth race aboard Easy Comparison ($7.20) and the sixth with Big Guy Ian ($6.20). Trevor McCarthy, last year's leading rider in Maryland, won his first race since returning from a broken wrist suffered in December. McCarthy won aboard Golden Glint ($3.80) in the ninth race. It was McCarthy's first day riding in Maryland after riding Thursday and Friday at Gulfstream Park in Florida.
