  • Football is dead to us, Bears fans

Football is dead to us, Bears fans
I am the most optimistic Chicago sports fan you'll ever read. I still hold hope that the Theocracy will break a 105-year Cubs drought, I believe Derrick Rose will lead the Bulls past Miami this spring, and I don't see any reason why the Blackhawks won't...

Bennett: Injuries just part of the roller coaster
Bears tight end Martellus Bennett showed off his artwork publicly for the first time at a reception Monday for The Dinner Party, a monthly talk show at City Winery. And while proceeds from the show will benefit After School Matters, Bears fans wanted to...

Bears' death-spiral defense loses only guy who tackles
You might think the Bears don’t have much of a team after what you saw in Washington. They lost to a bad team and lost their captains on both side of the ball. Dire, if not terminal. Bears coach Marc Trestman thinks you’re wrong. You...
  • Fantasy Fix: Build on these receivers

Fantasy Fix: Build on these receivers
I've been playing fantasy football for longer than many RedEye readers have been alive, and there's been one constant in all that time: You build a great fantasy team with running backs. Not anymore. If you want to have a great fantasy team these days,...
  • Bears rout Cowboys

    Bears rout Cowboys
Mike Ditka didn't bring the 1985 Bears defense with him down the red carpet to midfield at halftime Monday night. Because of the 2013 offense, he didn't have to. Backup quarterback Josh McCown accounted for five touchdowns, three before the Bears...
  • Just Joshin'

    Just Joshin'
He doesn't have the rocket arm. Or the celebrity wife. Or even a Tumblr of him "smoking." Josh McCown keeps his distance from all that noise. The 34-year-old Texas native's happy-to-be-here approach to his NFL career has helped Chicago embrace him as...
  • Does Emery know how to draft a defense?

Does Emery know how to draft a defense?
Remember how you feared former Bears general manager Jerry Angelo drafting offense?  Watch out, because now it looks like Phil Emery is having the same effect on the once-proud unit known as the Bears defense. I guess that Halas Hall seat comes with...
  • Peyton Manning is unanimous pick as quarterback on All-Pro team

Peyton Manning isn't the guy you want to bring up if you're looking for a little lively debate among the folks who pick the Associated Press' All-Pro football team. All 50 of them think he's the best quarterback in the NFL this season. And it's hard...
  • Emery's big bet

    Emery's big bet
When we first met Bears general manager Phil Emery, he considered Jay Cutler a “franchise quarterback.’’ And now Emery is betting more than $50 million of the Bears franchise’s money on it. Hope this works out better than...

Bad, stupid, heartless, spineless -- Bears wear it all
It couldn’t have been simpler. There couldn’t have been greater motivation. The Bears took the field in Philadelphia on Sunday night knowing they could win the NFC North and gain a playoff spot if they beat the Eagles. The Lions lost...

    NFL, NFLPA laughably hypocritical
Redskins cheap-shot artist Brandon Meriweather had his two-game suspension reduced to one game after an appeal. What, Meriweather was dirty on only one of those personal fouls against the Bears?  There’s your NFL player safety garbage in all...
