Northeast grad helps shape lives

Azizuddin Abdur-Ra'oof is a public speaker by trade, but he is at a loss for words when trying to come up with his own job title.

"I guess the terminology I like the most is 'performance coach,' '' said the former three-sport standout at Northeast High School when trying to describe his current occupation.

Abdur-Ra'oof, 51, blazed quite a trail at his Pasadena alma mater before graduating in 1983.

He led Northeast to its only state semifinal appearances in both basketball and football and set state records as a sprinter in track and field. He was named both the Capital Gazette and the Baltimore Sun Male Athlete of the Year his senior year. He also was student...
