Clancy Pendergast part of Redskins' defensive coordinator search

The Washington Redskins interviewed former Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast on Jan. 9 as part of their search for Jim Haslett's replacement, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed. Pendergast, most recently Southern California's defensive coordinator, has coached for five NFL teams, with his longest stint as a defensive coordinator coming from 2004-08 in Arizona. He served as defensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009, but was fired along with head coach Todd Haley after that season. Pendergast's defenses on average ranked 19th in the NFL.
