3. Fantasy Fodder: Don't overthink your playoff lineup

Assuming you are in a six- or eight-team league -- and not one of those screwy leagues that ends in Week 17 -- the fantasy football playoffs have arrived. If your team made the playoffs, give yourself a loud slap on the back.

5. Fantasy Fodder: So Jamaal Charles got hurt; now what?

When Jamaal Charles tore his ACL on Sunday, any hopes the Kansas City Chiefs had of making it back to the NFL playoffs were shredded. The season-ending injury to Charles, a top-five pick in most fantasy leagues, is also a devastating blow to fantasy owners who were banking on a monster season from the dual-threat back.

7. Ravens learned the hard way to focus on Holmes

Santonio Holmes had just one catch last Sunday and three the week before that, but if you are worried that the Ravens might overlook the New York Jets' speedy wide receiver Sunday night, you obviously have a selective memory.

9. Ravens to keep an eye on Jets' Keller

The New York Jets’ wide receiving corps boasts a speedster in Santonio Holmes, a red-zone target in Plaxico Burress and a technician in Derrick Mason.
The New York Jets’ wide receiving corps boasts a speedster in Santonio Holmes, a red-zone target in Plaxico Burress and a technician in Derrick Mason. But none of those guys leads the Jets in receiving. That honor goes to tight end Dustin Keller,...

11. Jeff Zrebiec's scouting report: Ravens vs. Jets

RAVENS RUN OFFENSE VS. JETS RUN DEFENSE: The Jets have spent the days leading up to the game answering questions about what has happened to their run defense. Unable to set the edge and deal with the Oakland Raiders’ speed last week, they were gashed for 234 yards on the ground, an average of 7.3 yards per carry by Darren McFadden and company. The Jets currently rank 31st in the NFL in run defense, a surprise considering that they ranked third in the NFL in that category last season, and they boast fast and athletic linebackers in David Harris and Bart Scott. The Ravens didn’t run the ball a lot last week against the St. Louis Rams, but they still accumulated 168 yards on the ground and averaged 6.5 yards per carry. The Ravens are eighth in the league with 383 rushing yards and Ray Rice is ninth in the league with 231 yards despite ranking 20th in the NFL with 41 carries. Rice was shut down by the Jets in last year’s season opener, gaining 43 yards on 21 carries. It’s likely that the Ravens will try to establish him early.

13. Quick hits: Ravens defense deserves all the credit it can get

Facing their outspoken former defensive coordinator in primetime, the Ravens defense delivered a dominant performance in a 34-17 victory that, believe it or not, made Rex Ryan sound subdued as he tackled tough questions at his post-game press conference. That his New York Jets defense shut down the Ravens was of no consolation to him as he left M&T Bank Stadium with a loss.

15. Fantasy Fodder: Five players you better hang on to

Desperation might be setting in inside your fantasy locker room if your squad is 1-3 or 0-4 at the quarter pole, especially if you’re in a cutthroat league where only four or six teams make it into the playoffs. We have enough data to see that trends are developing, and it looks as if some big names in fantasy are on track to be big busts.

17. Ravens taking notice of Texans' two-headed attack at tight end

The Ravens drafted Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta last season with the hope of developing a dual-pronged attack at tight end. Some might say that The Houston Texans, Sunday’s opponent, have already achieved that in Owen Daniels and Joel Dreessen. A...
