  • Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall believed to have torn Achilles tendon

Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall said Sunday that the team's medical staff believes he tore his left Achilles tendon early in the second quarter of the team's 37-34 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The 11th-year veteran suffered the injury on a play that occurred away from the ball. He said he believed his foot was stepped on as he ran. Immediately after the play, Hall lay, writhing in pain, near the right side of the field, the opposite side of the field from where Eagles running back Darren Sproles had been tackled. Hall had been covering Jeremy Maclin, but it didn't appear that he came in contact with the wide receiver. As soon as the play ended, Maclin turned around and ran back to where Hall lay. Redskins trainers arrived shortly afterward. Hall had to be helped off the field, but he didn't place his left foot on the ground. Shortly after, he was carted off the sideline to the locker room. Hall emerged after halftime, wearing a walking boot and on crutches. After the game, he spoke only briefly in the locker room. "They think I tore my Achilles," he said as he left the locker room on crutches. "I have to have an MRI tomorrow." Redskins coach Jay Gruden described it only as "an Achilles injury," and he also said Hall would have an MRI exam today.
