Bears learn hard way developing young offensive lineman a critical need

If Matt Slauson winds up starting at left guard Sunday against the Chiefs, he will be the Bears' only offensive lineman in the same position he was in six weeks ago for the third exhibition.

Offensive line play is all about continuity, and the Bears have virtually none, mostly because of injuries but also because of the late decision to shift Kyle Long to right tackle. If Slauson starts at center, it will be a new player at all five spots since the dress rehearsal that is the third week of preseason.
