3. First and 10: NFL power rankings entering Week 17

Because doing a full, 32-team list of power rankings is too much work, I rank the top 11 teams in the NFL after each exciting football weekend (that's where the "first and 10" comes in). I was off on Monday, so here are my belated but still timely rankings heading into the final week of the regular season:

  5. Fantasy Fodder: Don't overthink your playoff lineup

Assuming you are in a six- or eight-team league -- and not one of those screwy leagues that ends in Week 17 -- the fantasy football playoffs have arrived. If your team made the playoffs, give yourself a loud slap on the back.

  7. At 6 feet 1, QB Grossman looking for openings

On five occasions in the Washington Redskins game Sept. 18, Rex Grossman dropped back and spotted his receiver. The ball's trek was interrupted midflight, though, batted down by defensive linemen and never coming close to the intended target. "Nothing...

    1. If you have issues with your offensive line, or your quarterback likes to hang in there against the pass rush, the Ravens defense will eat you alive. With the Ravens sporting a 3-1 record going into the bye week, there is a lot to be impressed with...

  11. Fantasy Fodder: Five players you better hang on to

Desperation might be setting in inside your fantasy locker room if your squad is 1-3 or 0-4 at the quarter pole, especially if you’re in a cutthroat league where only four or six teams make it into the playoffs. We have enough data to see that trends are developing, and it looks as if some big names in fantasy are on track to be big busts.

  13. NFL power rankings: Who is ahead of the Ravens?

A month into the 2011 season, the 3-1 Ravens have established themselves as one of the early favorites to play in the Super Bowl in February. They manhandled the two teams that played in last season’s AFC championship -- the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Jets -- and lead the NFL with an impressive plus-62 point differential.

  15. Will Tebow remain Broncos' starting QB?

Rest of the season Dan Pompei Chicago Tribune One of the reasons it took a while for Broncos coach John Fox to listen to the Tebow chants is it will be difficult to turn back to Kyle Orton now. Barring injury, it makes sense for the team to stick with...

  17. Changing QBs doesn't help

Mike Shanahan's switch from Rex Grossman to former Ravens backup John Beck as starting quarterback couldn't ignite the Washington Redskins, who suffered another series of critical injuries to their starters Sunday as they lost, 33-20, to the Carolina...

  19. Instant Analysis: Ravens' 2012 schedule

Jeff Zrebiec, reporter: Fretting over how difficult the Ravens' schedule could be in mid-April is a pretty pointless exercise when one training camp injury, extended holdout or botched first-round draft pick can significantly alter a team's fortunes for the 2012-13 season. Sure, the Ravens figure to have their hands full in 2013, but nobody knows if Peyton Manning will instantly make the Broncos an elite team or if the Bengals will continue to take steps forward rather than back or if the Giants will more resemble the team that went 9-7 and nearly didn't make the playoffs or the one that got hot and won another Super Bowl. The good news is the Ravens have the Giants, Patriots and Broncos on their home field, where they've been nearly unbeatable with John Harbaugh at the helm. They also have a group of talented veterans, who are still seething about getting so close to the Super Bowl last year and know that their chances for a title are running out. I wouldn't bank on another 12-4 season, but with relatively good health, a couple of offensive line additions along with a solid draft class, the Ravens will maintain their status as one of the AFC's elite teams.

Every season, a few surprise studs come out of fantasy Siberia to reward savvy owners who had the foresight to select them in the later rounds of the draft.
