  1. Ginn, one-time Ravens' target, opts to stay in San Francisco

It is believed that the Ravens have hosted three free agents since the market opened last Tuesday, and now all of them have signed elsewhere.

  3. Ravens free agency by the numbers

Maybe it’s because I was a star mathlete in high school, but I love numbers. And we’ve spent plenty of time crunching them these past 10 days while waiting for the Ravens to make moves -- or purposefully not make moves -- in the new league year. Here is a handful of relevant numbers from this quiet free-agency period:

  7. 2012 NFL free agency primer: the offensive linemen

The Ravens would like to improve their offensive line during the offseason, but the best move they could make in free agency would be re-signing Ben Grubbs, who could soon be one of the top guards available. The Ravens recently said that they have already offered big money to Grubbs -- and there’s no reason not to believe that claim -- but if Grubbs, who turns 28 this month, hits the open market, he could be gone for good.

  9. 2012 NFL free agency primer: the defensive linemen

Houston Texans defensive end turned outside linebacker Mario Williams will be the marquee free agent this offseason not named Peyton Manning. (Interesting side note: The Texans drafted Williams No. 1 overall in part due to Manning’s presence in the AFC South and now they will both hit the market at the same time.) He is a natural at defensive end in a 4-3 defense, but did well enough in 2011 to garner interest from 3-4 teams.

  13. Free agent wide receiver market drying up on Ravens

At the NFL Scouting Combine late last month, Ravens coach <strong>John Harbaugh</strong> acknowledged something that was probably pretty obvious to anybody even remotely familiar with the team&rsquo;s salary cap situation.

  15. A few observations after 40 hours of free agency

We&rsquo;re about 40 hours into the NFL free agent period and the Ravens have lost two starters on defense (<strong>Jarret Johnson</strong> and <strong>Cory Redding</strong>), learned that two of their other free agents are visiting other cities (<strong>Ben Grubbs</strong> and <strong>Haruki Nakamura</strong>) and have failed to make any roster additions.

  17. Matt Vensel's 2012 NFL mock draft -- version 1.0

This year&rsquo;s NFL scouting combine begins Wednesday, unofficially marking the start of draft speculation season. Before the prospects are poked and prodded, though, staff writer Matt Vensel has taken his first crack at predicting the first round of April&rsquo;s NFL draft. (This mock draft does not account for potential trades.)
