  1. Ravens' MVP this season may not be on the field

The Ravens' Most Valuable Player of the 2013 season could be Mark Smith.
The Ravens' Most Valuable Player of the 2013 season could be Mark Smith. Smith is the team's head athletic trainer and responsible for trying to get the injured players back on the field as soon as possible, but also at 100 percent. Despite some great...

  3. Ravens rookie fullback may be reminded frequently about his Harvard roots

Let's get the last name out of the way first. It's Juszczyk. Somehow, from that lonely vowel and thicket of consonants, comes a pronunciation of YOOZ-check. Don't feel bad if you don't say it right the first time. No one ever does. No, check that. One...

  5. When it comes to diversity in the NFL, nepotism trumps the 'Rooney Rule'

This NFL offseason represents the 10-year anniversary of the inception of the "Rooney Rule." The rule, named after Pittsburgh Steelers' Chairman Dan Rooney, requires teams to interview minority candidates for all head coaching and senior football operation positions. Initially, the rule showed some signs of success, but the coaching moves from this offseason have even Dan Rooney's son, Steelers' President Art Rooney II, wondering "whether we are really reviewing minority coaches in a satisfactory manner."

  7. Ravens news, notes and opinions on Orioles, Ed Reed, Bryant McKinnie and more

As the Orioles and Ravens try to work out a scheduling conflict that has put in jeopardy the NFL’s hopes of opening up the regular season on Thursday, Sept. 5 at M&T Bank Stadium, the relationship between the two downtown neighbors has again come under scrutiny. That’s a shame because over the past year or so, the synergy between the Orioles and Ravens never appeared better. Ravens players wore cartoon bird hats and frequently brought up the Orioles during their playoff run. When the Orioles played the New York Yankees at home in Game 2 of their playoff series, half the Ravens’ roster was at Camden Yards.

  9. Brian Billick thinks the reshuffling Ravens will be OK

Brian Billick was coach of the Ravens the last time the team had a chance to repeat as Super Bowl champions, so I was interested to hear his thoughts on what the Ravens are doing the second time around.

  13. John Harbaugh connects with Ravens players using a different approach

Standing in front of his players in the team auditorium on Halloween morning, Ravens coach John Harbaugh was convinced he had the right response for an embarrassing 43-13 loss to the Houston Texans. On the Ravens' first day back from a bye week, he told players, they would have a full-contact practice.

  19. Will Sunday's Super Bowl mark the end of an era for the Ravens?

NEW ORLEANS -- The vision has consumed some of them for almost a decade. During their most painful moments as Ravens, they wondered if it would ever happen, if they would ever experience a moment that their leader has spoken of so many times.

5. John Harbaugh hasn't always gotten the respect that he deserves, even in this city, but he has proven over the past 12 months that he is one heck of a football coach
