Towson storms back to capture CAA title, playoff berth

KINGSTON, R.I. — After a 10th consecutive losing season, maybe someday the University of Rhode Island football program can tell a story like the one the Towson University football program has written in 2011.

The Tigers completed an improbable turnaround from a 1-10 finish in 2010 by going 9-2 (7-1 in the league) and winning their first CAA championship. The Tigers had to rally to beat the Rams and leave the field with the championship trophy Saturday.
