Lions LB Brandon Copeland, a former Gilman star, to miss season, reports say

Brandon Copeland, who almost made the Ravens as an undrafted linebacker out of the University of Pennsylvania and found a full-time job the past two seasons with the Detroit Lions, will miss the 2017 season with a torn pectoral muscle.

Reports say Copeland was injured in Sunday’s preseason game against the Colts. He played primarily on special teams his first two seasons but was competing to start at linebacker this preseason.

The Lions also lost defensive end Kerry Hyder to a torn Achilles tendon in the win over the Colts.

Copeland has been preparing for life after football since his days at Gilman.
