Digest: Rudy Gay (Archbishop Spalding) to reportedly opt out of final year of contract with Kings

Veteran forward Rudy Gay (Archbishop Spalding) plans to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Sacramento Kings to become a free agent, according to a report by ESPN's The Undefeated.

Gay was set to make $14.2 million in the final year of contract with the Kings next season, but he plans to opt out before the June 10 deadline.

He averaged 18.7 points and 6.3 rebounds in 30 games with the Kings last season before suffering a season-ending complete tear of his left Achilles tendon Jan. 18.
