Patterson Mill claims its first girls lacrosse title, 16-8, over Boonsboro in Class 1A

Nine years after losing to Century in its only girls lacrosse state championship appearance in the program’s first year in what was then Class 2A-1A, Patterson Mill can finally bear the crown.

In a mostly back-and-forth game Tuesday at Stevenson between the Harford and Washington County heavyweights, the Huskies (12-5) won the title with a 16-8 victory over Boonsboro, which was attempting to become the first team from outside the Baltimore metro area to win a championship in the sport.

“It’s something really special,” second-year coach Kim Burgasser said.
