Stephen Kelly (Calvert Hall) scored the go-ahead goal and cousin Patrick Kelly (Calvert Hall) added one for insurance to help the No. 13 North Carolina men's lacrosse team complete a comeback and upset No. 1 Notre Dame, 17-15, on Saturday.
The host Tar Heels (8-5, 3-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) trailed the Fighting Irish 10-5 with 10 minutes left. Stephen Kelly scored with 2:50 left, and Patrick Kelly scored with 1:49 remaining.
Notre Dame (9-2, 3-1) broke an 8-all tie with a 6-1 run in the third quarter. Sergio Perkovic finished with four goals, and Mikey Wynne (St. Paul's) had three.
