Digest (Aug. 18): Brigade's Smith named Arena Football League Defensive Lineman of the Year

Baltimore Brigade defensive lineman Khreem Smith was named the Arena Football League Defensive Lineman of the Year. The six-year AFL vet and former Oklahoma State player recorded nine sacks this season, tied for most in the league among defensive linemen, and two forced fumbles and a pass deflection. In six AFL seasons, Smith has 115 tackles, 13 forced fumbles and 36 sacks, which rank 23rd on the league's all-time list. His nine sacks in 2017 were a career high, outdoing the eight sacks he recorded as a rookie in 2006.
