Seemingly faster since turning 50, Charles Powell II of Bel Air finished fifth in the Maryland Half Marathon Saturday.
Seven-hundred runners crossed the finish line in this annual race, in which Powell was seeking his third age-group win since turning 50 March 11.
"I am sort of on a roll," he said.
He ran 1:28:29 over a hilly, 13.1-mile course in Howard County, but he was unable to overtake 53-year-old Ed Wilson of the Howard County Striders, a two-time winner of the 50-54 age group. Powell finished second in the age group, 66 seconds behind Wilson.
