Jessica Long made an off-balance jumper from the wing as time expired Wednesday to give eighth- seeded UMES a 52-50 victory over top seed Hampton in the quarterfinals of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball tournament in Norfolk, Va. The defeat ended the Lady Pirates' streak of MEAC championships at five. Hampton (18-12) tied the game at 50 with 1:14 left after a jumper from Malia Tate-DeFreitas, the MEAC Player of the Year, and had possession in the closing seconds.
