  1. Examining 16 years of Ravens draft trends

While doing my homework on the Ravens and their history in the NFL draft, I spent a little time exploring our Ravens draft database (sorry for the shameless plug, but it&rsquo;s pretty neat feature <a href=&quot;http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bal-ravensdraft-database,0,4086707.htmlstory" target="_blank">if you haven&rsquo;t checked it out</a>). In no particular order, here are some trends and random factoids from the 126 picks they&rsquo;ve made in 16 years.

  3. There's some intrigue left in the NFL draft

I admit I was one of the skeptics when it comes to the NFL draft.
I admit I was one of the skeptics when it comes to the NFL draft. When ESPN started televising it in 1980, I said: "Big guys in pricey suits walking across a stage — who's going to watch that?" Yep, I'm a regular visionary. A Nostradamus for our...

  5. Q&A with Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti

<strong></strong>Seated outside Monday afternoon at the posh Breakers hotel, the site of this week's NFL owners meetings, Steve Bisciotti, well-tanned and sharply-dressed, appeared as relaxed as ever.

  7. Ravens pleased with contract talks involving Ray Rice

A day after Ray Rice broke the silence about his contract status by saying he had outplayed his rookie deal, Ravens general manger Ozzie Newsome agreed with the Pro Bowl running back and indicated that he is happy with the progress the organization has made in long-term contract talks with Todd France, the agent for Rice.

  11. Ravens' pursuit of new deal with Ray Rice starts now

Ravens officials watched, occasionally with jaws dropped, as Ray Rice danced and darted around opposing defenders in his first four NFL seasons. Now the time has come for the Ravens to wrap up Rice and make sure that the diminutive running back remains one of the focal points of their offense going forward.

  13. Ravens notes: Salary cap won't prevent team from filling needs

With free agency set to begin on March 13, there have been a lot of questions about where the Ravens sit with the salary cap. That cap hasn&rsquo;t been officially set, though it&rsquo;s expected to be similar to last year&rsquo;s number. Either way, all indications are that the Ravens are in decent shape with the cap, certainly in better position than they have been the past couple of offseasons. That doesn&rsquo;t mean that the Ravens have the room to go on a free-agent shopping spree, because that won&rsquo;t happen. That doesn&rsquo;t fit with their organizational philosophy anyway. But it does mean that they should be able to keep a couple of their higher-priority free agents (<strong>Ben Grubbs</strong> will probably price out of their range) while also filling one or two needs with outside free agents. And they should get a little more flexibility by either releasing or restructuring the contracts of cornerbacks <strong>Chris Carr</strong> and <strong>Domonique Foxworth</strong>, and wide receiver <strong>Lee Evans</strong>.

  15. Quiet Yanda lowers boom for Ravens

If you really want to appreciate the violence of football when the Ravens take on the Indianapolis Colts at M&T Bank Stadium Sunday, take your eyes off Ray Rice and Joe Flacco for a second and focus on right guard Marshal Yanda.

  17. Ken Murray's Sunday primer: Ravens vs. Jets

It&rsquo;s another tantalizing Ravens-Jets matchup, another chance to dissect the Ravens&rsquo; decision to go with John Harbaugh over Rex Ryan as head coach in 2008.

  21. Ed Reed is rooting for Ochocinco

One aspect missing from the buildup of Sunday&rsquo;s AFC North clash between the Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals is the lack of barbs usually crafted by wide receiver Chad Ochocinco.
