Swimmer Katie Ledecky wins twice at the Pan Pacific Championships

Katie Ledecky of Bethesda earned two victories in less than an hour on the opening day of the Pan Pacific Championships on Thursday in Gold Coast, Australia. Ledecky, 17, the World Swimmer of the Year in 2013, took the 200-meter freestyle in 1 minute, 55.74 seconds, almost a second and a half ahead of her nearest rival. She then won the 800 freestyle in 8:11.35, just 0.35 outside the world record she set less than two months ago.
