Maryland point guard Melo Trimble has been invited to try out for the U.S. team going to the Pan American Games in Toronto later this summer.
The 20-year-old Trimble, who will be a sophomore in College Park, is among the youngest of the 22 players vying for 12 spots on a team coached by Gonzaga’s Mark Few.
“I am very humbled to have this opportunity,” Trimble said in a statement released by the athletic department. “I am looking forward to learning from an outstanding coaching staff and playing with so many talented players. This experience will be beneficial as I continue to work on my overall game.”
