A team of five surgeons performed a three-hour operation to repair the fracture in Joel Embiid's right foot Tuesday at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
The 76ers sent out a release Tuesday night in which Dr. Martin O'Malley of the Hospital for Special Surgery said the surgeons replaced the two existing screws and performed a bone graft of the site using bone from Embiid's hip.
“The bone's integrity was even better than expected and has been put in a great position to support full recovery,” O'Malley said.
O'Malley performed a bone graft on the Thunder's Kevin Durant in March at the same facility.
