State: No. 1 Michigan St. routs Mount St. Mary's men

Keith Appling scored 17 points on 8-for-11 shooting as top-ranked Michigan State beat visiting Mount St. Mary's, 98-65, on Friday.

Travis Trice and Denzel Valentine added 15 points each for Michigan State (7-0), which shot 63.1 percent from the field without leading scorer Gary Harris, who rested an ankle injury. Adreian Payne chipped in eight points and six rebounds, and Branden Dawson grabbed a game-high 10 boards as the Spartans outrebounded Mount St. Mary's 40-31.
