Outfield prospect Jason Coats starts White Sox triple play

White Sox outfield prospect Jason Coats never had seen a triple play completed in person until he made the catch that started one Thursday in a 9-2 loss to the Royals.

With Royals runners leaving first and second base, Coats caught a Tony Cruz line drive in left field. He threw to Sox shortstop Jimmy Rollins, who caught the first Royals runner off second base. Rollins then rifled a throw to first baseman Mike Olt, who completed the play.
