New Magic GM Rob Hennigan was an unselfish, tenacious player in high school

Bob Foley has coached high-school basketball in Massachusetts for almost half a century.

But to this day, he still tells his teams at St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury, Mass., about the unselfish shooting guard who excelled on defense and helped lead the school to the Division 1 state title in 2000.

That shooting guard was Rob Hennigan, the new general manager of the Orlando Magic.

“The big thing about him was his defense,” Foley told the Orlando Sentinel. “He was a heck of a defensive player. I always put him on the best player on the other team. I still talk to my kids about him: He’s the best I’ve ever had at avoiding the screen.”
