5. The continuing curious case of Joe Saunders

My guess is I am averaging about five questions a day for the past two weeks on the Orioles' pursuit of left-handed pitcher Joe Saunders. Pretty incredible considering when the Orioles dealt reliever Matt Lindstrom to Arizona for Saunders last August, the move was met with collective yawns across Baltimore.

  15. Back Story: The night "The Kissing Bandit" came to town

Mark Harvey, the Camden Yards and M&T Bank Stadium streaker, didn't get the same deal that Morganna Roberts, a stripper and exotic dancer who was known as "The Kissing Bandit," did in 1988, when she ran onto the field at Memorial Stadium and bussed Cal Ripken Jr. as he came up to bat.

  17. Orioles manager Buck Showalter is the Marylander of the Year

There is a whole generation of Baltimoreans who have grown up without knowing that, somewhere deep in its DNA, this is a baseball town. The Ravens, yes; the Colts, certainly — they occupy a big chunk of the municipal imagination. But for so long, there were Brooks, Frank, Eddie, Palmer, Cal and Earl, with Wild Bill in the stands on 33rd Street. The Oriole Way was the Baltimore Way: Show up, do your job. Not flashy, just good, year in and year out.
