IronBirds fall short in sweep attempt of Lowell

The Aberdeen IronBirds attempt at a three-game sweep of the Lowell Spinners was derailed in a big way Sunday at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium.

Lowell pounded Aberdeen pitching for 15 hits, en route to an 8-0 New York-Penn League win. Aberdeen had won the first two games of the series, limiting Lowell to a total of one run and nine hits.

In Sunday's loss, Aberdeen (24-31) was held to just three hits, while four Lowell pitchers combined to strike out 12 Aberdeen batters.

Kirvin Moesquit, batting in the nine hole, had Aberdeen's lone extra base hit, a triple. Alejandro Juvier and Jerry McClanahan had the other two hits.
