Yet to spend a dime on a major league free agent this winter, the Miami Marlins have remained active in the minors market.
This week, they signed four players to minor league contracts with invitations to big league spring training, a source told the South Florida Sun Sentinel: right-hander Jumbo Diaz, outfielder/first baseman Scott Van Slyke, right-hander Tyler Cloyd and left-hander Mike Kickham.
And last month, they re-signed reliever Javy Guerra, who pitched in 16 major league games for the Marlins last season. Guerra’s deal, which flew under the radar at the time, is also a minor league pact with an invite to major league camp.
