Remembering 1983: A look at the Orioles' world championship for the week of Oct. 7-13

The Orioles finished the regular season with the second-best ERA (3.63) in the American League. This week, they take it up a notch. In four postseason games, Baltimore allows four runs (three earned) in defeating Chicago in the AL Championship Series and splitting the first two games of the World Series with the Philadelphia Phillies.

The White Sox bow, 11-1 and 3-0, as the Orioles win the AL flag, three games to one. In the blowout, Mike Flanagan and Sammy Stewart combine on a six-hitter, and Eddie Murray slams a three-run home run into the upper deck at Comiskey Park, breaking his 0-for-29 slump in the playoffs.
