1. Future of Camden Yards depends on continued evolution

In 1912, when Fenway Park opened as the home of the Boston Red Sox, fans went to a baseball game because they wanted to watch a baseball game.

  5. Former Oriole Luke Scott still not afraid to speak his mind

Though he never had the chance to wear the cartoon bird on his cap day-in and day out, former Orioles outfielder and current Tampa Bay Ray Luke Scott is doing his best to, well, remain a cartoon character with his new ballclub -- and he’s still endearing himself to Orioles fans while doing it.

  11. Manny Machado faces Red Sox in first Orioles start

Orioles top hitting prospect Manny Machado made his first start in an exhibition game Saturday against the Boston Red Sox, batting ninth and playing shortstop. The 19-year-old was even more excited when he found out he’d be facing right-hander Josh Beckett, who was a star with the Florida Marlins while Machado was growing up in Miami.

  15. News, notes and random thoughts on the Orioles and winter meetings

Shortstop Jose Reyes, with that bizarre Miami Marlins hat, was just on the podium announcing his new six-year, $106 million deal with the Marlins. Reyes is a great player, but it is such a strange fit there since the Marlins’ top star is Hanley Ramirez and he’ll likely be moved to third base. Reyes said he hasn’t talked to Ramirez yet, but “I’m looking forward to playing with Hanley.”

  21. Taking a look at the Orioles' remaining free-agent possibilities

The word from around the Warehouse is that the Orioles aren’t done with their winter shopping. The club has made some significant moves, most notably making a run in the international market for starting pitching by acquiring Japanese pitcher Tsuyoshi Wada and Taiwanese pitcher Wei-Yin Chen. But executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette has made it clear the Orioles are still active in improving the club for 2012 and beyond. It’s unclear whether the best options will come via trade or through the free-agent market, which has cooled in recent days.
