Aug. 5, 2000: In his Ravens debut, having signed as a free agent, veteran tight end Shannon Sharpe catches a 7-yard touchdown pass in a 16-13 win over the Philadelphia Eagles at PSINet Stadium. It’s the ninth straight preseason victory for Baltimore.

Aug. 8, 1997: A 6-2 victory over the host Anaheim Angels puts the first-place Orioles 31 games over .500 for the first time since their 1983 championship season. Pitcher Mike Mussina (13-4) retires 19 of the first 21 batters and catcher Chris Hoiles knocks in two runs as the team improves to 71-40.
