Brewers take advantage of mistakes to defeat Cardinals

ST. LOUIS A win over St. Louis when Adam Wainwright is on the mound for the Cardinals feels good any time. But it felt particularly good Monday for the Milwaukee Brewers after their horrible first week of the season. Taking advantage of some uncharacteristic sloppy defense and adding enough big hits to do some damage, the Brewers held on for a 5-4 victory in the Cardinals' home opener, played before a record crowd of 47,875. It was a much-needed result after the Brewers staggered through their opening home stand with a 1-5 record, scoring only 16 runs.
