Left-handed relief pitcher Mike Belfiore has been claimed off waivers by the Detroit Tigers, the Orioles announced Thursday before their game against the Boston Red Sox at Camden Yards. Belfiore, whom the Orioles acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks in May 2012 as the player to be named later in the trade for third baseman Josh Bell -- was designated for assignment Sunday. That move cleared space on the 40-man roster for right-hander Evan Meek and outfielder-designated hitter Delmon Young, who both made the Opening Day roster.
