Orioles' Zach Britton rolls right ankle, remains in game to convert 51st straight save

Closer Zach Britton rolled his right ankle in the ninth inning of the Orioles’ 6-5 comeback victory over the New York Yankees on Friday night at Camden Yards.

In the process of converting his second save of the season, Britton fielded a comebacker off the bat of Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez, but awkwardly stumbled to the ground on the edge of the mound. He threw to first for the out, but was visibly favoring the ankle.

After testing the ankle with several warmup pitches in front of head trainer Richie Bancells, manager Buck Showalter and pitching coach Roger McDowell, Britton remained in the game and recorded the final out to close out a perfect ninth.
