Giants' Lincecum injured during relief appearance

KANSAS CITY, Mo. Tim Lincecum's first appearance of the postseason ended abruptly. The right-hander retired the first five batters he faced in Game 2 of the World Series Wednesday but he appeared to slip while throwing a two-strike pitch to Salvador Perez in the eighth inning. Trainer Dave Groeschner immediately ran out to check on Lincecum, who is as durable as any pitcher on the staff. He was removed quickly. More information was not immediately available. Lincecum was pitching for the first time since Sept. 28. He was the only Giant who didn't play in the NLDS or the NLCS. If his injury is long-lasting, the Giants can replace him on the roster.
