Orioles manager Buck Showalter was looking for a spark when he moved rookie catcher Chance Sisco up to the second spot in the batting order Wednesday night.
The move worked, but it didn’t change the outcome of the game.
Sisco, a left-handed batter, hit his first home run of the season in the fifth inning off Tampa Bay pitcher Jake Faria, pulling the Orioles back to within one run of the Rays after their four-run rally in the top of the inning. It was the third career home run for Sisco, who hit his first in just his third major league at-bat Sept. 14 against the New York Yankees.
