Facing the prospect of completing four games in the span of about 45 hours, the Marlins were in great need of a strong start Friday from Tom Koehler.
Koehler did his part in keeping the Nationals off the scoreboard for 5 2/3 gritty innings at Nationals Park. A trio of home runs allowed by relievers rendered his effort a footnote in a 5-3 Washington victory.
