President Theo Epstein has made no secret of the Cubs' need to add impact pitching.
And with the likes of free agents David Price, Zack Greinke, Jordan Zimmermann and Johnny Cueto available, the Cubs could have their share of options after recently displaying they are on the verge of sustained success.
But unlike last winter, when the Cubs signed left-hander Jon Lester to a six-year, $155 million contract, Epstein isn't sure if he will travel down the free-agent road again to land a frontline starter.
