MINNEAPOLIS — Kyle Schwarber showed no trace of disappointment Sunday after the Cubs optioned him to Triple-A Iowa despite a .364 average in 22 major-league at-bats.
"No, I knew what my role was," Schwarber said after poking a two-run single on an 0-2 curve off Twins left-hander Aaron Thompson that sparked a six-run rally in the eighth inning of the Cubs' 8-0 win.
"I knew it coming in, and I'm not disappointed at all. I knew the day would come. It was just a matter of when the time was ticking down. But it's an unreal experience, seeing what it takes to play a major-league game. It was awesome."
