The idea was born after Thurman revisited her career-launching film in France at this year's Cannes Film Festival alongside helmer Tarantino and fellow cast members. While watching a special screening of the film, Thurman said she realized she wanted to continue the festivities for the film's anniversary.
Thurman, who garnered a supporting actress Oscar nom for her role, will auction off the private screening of the film. The screening will be held on Sept. 14 at NeueHouse in New York City.
Proceeds from the auction will support the Room to Grow organization, which is aimed at enriching the first three years of babies born in poverty. Thurman has been involved with the org since it was founded in 1998.
"I am so happy to share the film again, in a personal way, and to see the film do some real good for babies in need," Thurman said.
Auction hopefuls can begin now through July 23 on the Charitybuzz website. As of Wednesday afternoon, the current bid was at $8,500.
