Kristin Chenoweth and Peter Gallagher are set to make their Broadway returns in "On the Twentieth Century," the 1978 musical that New York's Roundabout Theater Company will produce in spring 2015.
The project has been in the works for a while now with Chenoweth, who earlier starred in a Roundabout reading of the tuner. The title slips into the scheduling slot formerly occupied by the previously announced revival of "Noises Off," which has been pushed to the fall of 2015.
"Wicked" alum Chenoweth hasn't been on Broadway since the 2010 revival of "Promises, Promises." Gallagher was last on the Rialto in the 2008 production of "The Country Wife."
In 2004 the Roundabout produced "The Twentieth Century," the Ben Hecht-Charles McArthur play on which the musical is based. Storyline of both the play and the musical follows the travellers on the luxury train Twentieth Century, including a down-on-his-luck theater producer (Gallagher) and the starlet (Chenoweth) he wants to topline his next drama.
"On the Twentieth Century" begins previews Feb. 12, 2015 ahead of a March 12, 2015 opening at the Roundabout's American Airlines Theater.
