Elton John's Rocket Features banner has acquired the film rights to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" with plans to turn it into an animated feature.
Rocket Pictures CEO Steve Hamilton Shaw and David Furnish will produce the film with the Really Useful Group. Webber, Rice and John will exec produce.
Rocket Pictures is currently producing the John biopic "Rocketman" with Tom Hardy set to star as the iconic performer. It is also at work on "Sherlock Gnomes," the sequel to its 3D animated hit "Gnomeo & Juliet" that earned $200 million worldwide.
