Sony Pictures has optioned the rights to the David Ignatius novel "The Director" with Scott Rudin attached to produce.
The book is being published in June and follows the director of the CIA who, after only being in the position for a week, has to deal with a worse case scenario after a Swiss kid walks into CIA's Hamburg office and says the government office has been hacked and he has the names of agents to prove it.
Warner Bros. "Body of Lies" which attracted such A-List talent as Ridley Scott, Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe.
While that film didn't draw the awards buzz that Warners had hoped for, Sony and Rudin see this film as having awards season potential because of the material and Rudin's pedigree.
