CNN announced during its TCA presentation today the addition of "Death Row Stories" to its original programming lineup. Eight-part nonfiction series hails from Robert Redford and Alex Gibney, and will be narrated by Susan Sarandon.

Each episode of "Death Row Stories" centers on a different capital murder case and calls into question the beliefs surrounding the death penalty and American justice system.

"This series is about the search for justice and truth, we are pleased to be working with Alex Gibney to tell these important stories and give a voice to these cases," Redford said.

"Death Row Stories" premieres on March 9, with the first seg exploring the case of Edward Lee Elmore, an African-American handyman charged with the murder of a white woman in the South in 1982.

Redford and Laura Michalchyshyn are exec producing on behalf of Sundance Prods., and Gibney, Dave Snyder, Stacey Offman and Brad Hebert on behalf of Jigsaw Prods.
