ROME - Meryl Streep will be feted by Italy's Giffoni Film Festival for children, the unique cinematic holiday camp of sorts where kids, teens and young adults from all over the world watch movies, talk about them and judge them.
Streep, who will return to Giffoni after attending in 2001, will receive the fest's new Giffoni Fellowship prize and also be the subject of a special dedicated sidebar during the 44th edition of the ever expanding event which will run July 18-27, 2014.

The Southern Italian fest has been exporting its format around the world, most recently through a partnership with the Doha Film Institute which just launched its new Giffoni-like Ajyal Film Festival for the Young, the first edition of which ran Nov. 26-30 in Doha.
