Fox has added more heft to its remake of the BBC's dark crime drama "Broadchurch" with the casting of Anna Gunn and Jacki Weaver in key roles.
The Shine America series will be titled "Gracepoint" for its Fox run, skedded to bow next season as a limited series entry. Production on 10 episodes is set to begin in January.
Breaking Bad," will co-star opposite David Tennant as Det. Ellie Miller, who reluctantly works a murder case in a seaside town with the new partner who got the promotion she was expecting.
Weaver will play Susan Wright, a mysterious woman who moves into the town's RV park.
Landing Gunn for "Gracepoint" is a coup for Fox as the actress has been highly sought after following her career-making run on "Breaking Bad." Aussie thesp Weaver is a two-time Oscar nominee who starred in a CBS comedy pilot this past spring, "The McCarthys."
"Broadchurch" creator Chip Chibnall is penning the first episode of "Gracepoint" and will exec produce with Shine America's Carolyn Bernstein, showrunners Dan Futterman and Anya Epstein and Kudos' Jane Featherstone.
Gunn is repped by UTA; Weaver is with ICM Partners.
