Sharapova, who carried the flag for her Russia at the 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony in London, will be a correspondent offering insight on her native country's first time hosting the winter games.
Sharapova is ranked fourth in the world among women's tennis players and is one of 10 women to win every Grand Slam singles event in her career: Wimbledon (2004), U.S. Open (2006), Australian Open (2008) and French Open (2012). She also has more than 680,000 followers on Twitter.
