Jake Gyllenhaal is continuing to stay one of the busier actors in the biz as he is in talks to star in Weinstein Co. boxing pic "Southpaw."
Eminem was originally attached to star but he fell out when the film couldn't get up and running.
The story follows a left-handed prizefighter who wins a title but suffers a tragedy soon after and must put his life back together to earn the respect of his young daughter.
Gyllenhaal is continuing to carry a strong balance of commercial and art-house projects. He has already received praise for his role in Alcon's "Prisoners," as well as "Enemy" which premiered in Toronto.
He is currently filming the indie thriller "Nightcrawler" and will follow that up with Working Title's "Everest." He is repped by WME.
