Pic will be the first doc to be produced by SimonSays, the company whose current output include "Blue Caprice," the Sundance alum currently in release from Sundance Selects, as well as "Mother of George," which recently hit screens from Oscilloscope Laboratories. "Gun Hill Road" and "Night Catches Us" also are among the company's credits.
"25 to Life" follows William Brauner as he tries to redeem himself after keeping his HIV-positive status under wraps for 25 years, and to start with a clean slate with his wife, who is HIV negative.
Filmmaker Brown has worked as the cameraman for Sean Combs and also has a handful of shorts to his name. "25 to Life" is funded by SimonSays along with the Ford foundation, the Sundance Institute, Cinereach, the Good Pitch, IFP, Firelight Medai Lab and Tribeca All Access.
SimonSays targets a 2014 festival premiere for the movie.
